if you're looking at new shotguns i'd buy anything but an 870, unless you get lucky and get the 1 out of 100 they accidentally made well, but i wouldn't take the chance. you can't lose with a mossberg or maverick, they're not flashy but reliable, smooth and well-built. another to consider is the stevens line of chinese-made, warranteed by savage shotguns. they'll be hard to add junk to, but they work well and are inexpensive. 199 right now at turners. the turkish 870 copies are actually much nicer than a genuine remington. go handle them all and make your decision. or buy a used winchester defender, they are the best.

I've actually had 2 870s in the past 3 months and both have ran flawless with everything buy Winchester universal loads and even my cousin and friends 500 and auto loader had the same problems I did.. Very smooth well working guns. Just like all quality firearms.. This QC thing just got out of hand and blew up on the Internet like a dam YouTube video. One video 10000000 views.. Same thing one gun malfunctions 1000000 read about it 100000000 different people talk about it and it become 10000000 different malfunctions.

I have a 590a1. I also have a CA king Bed. Get what fits you and you're comfortable with. You get to shoot your gun and sleep in your bed... you'll just sleep better having a gun you love shooting. I don't know what the hell i'm saying now, just having fun. I do love my 590a1 and if people tell you it is to heavy then tell them to just go to the gym. Oh, and to piss of the other half of the Shotgun world... new 870's are garbage, only get one if you are into recycling trash.
