Starting too high end?

The 930 is a fine shotgun BUT if you have your heart set on an M2, buy it. You can never regret buying something that you truely want. Treat it as though it will be your only shotgun you will ever own. My personal favorite is my M1s90 I wouldn't trade it for any other shotgun.

go out and shoot a mossberg 500, then shoot a benelli SBE2 right after......totally worth it.

i shot a mossberg 500 one day to finish off a cripple (shot 3 times )when my gun was empty, and it felt like someone socked me in the shoulder pretty dang hard. I dont really even notice the kick on my benelli. way nicer.

Meh. I have both kinds of shotgun. The mossberg will do the job if you know how to use it. If its beating up ur shoulder ur not doing it right. The benellis are nice but only worth it if you shoot alot of shotgun and really want all the conveniences it offers.

Exactly. If your shoulder hurts its nothing a $100 shock absorbing stock cant fix. For the price, the 930 is the way to go. I dont know why people think mossberg is low budget? For almost triple the price LESS than benelli, Ill stick to mossberg.

The Benelli is the most amazing shotgun I've ever owned or shot but its just a shotgun I'm going back to a pump so I can feed it everything my M4 is picky. From my understanding though the M2 and the 930 have a self regulating or a adjustable gas system so you'll probably be GTG with whatever you feed it. When I sell my M4 I'm getting a Remington Police magnum.

I put 200 rounds of 8 shot through my Mossberg 500 in one day my first time shooting clays and my shoulder was hardly tender. I was cutting fire wood with my axe when i wasnt shooting and it still didnt bother it much. Maybe you have pre existing conditions that caused said issue.

My first Shotgun was a very high end single shot 20ga in 1982.



Still have it, thought I honestly haven't shot it since 1988 probably. Stepped up to an 870 then. Still have it too.

In all honesty, if you haven't shot a 12g then go test someone's out first befor you know what your getting into. They recoil hard and most ppl don't have fun plinking with it at the range.

I went through 2 pumps (mossberg 590, and a tactical style escort from big 5) and sold both because I had no desire to get my arm blown off every time I shot 20 rounds at the range. And it was kinda a waste of money to have it just sitting in my safe, and chances of having a break in and using it on someone are slim to none.

But ignore my post if you already shoot them and know how they are.

Mossberg 590a1 spx is extremely bad *** and still priced in the range ur looking at, comes with a sweet boyonet too. I want one, then add a 12" lop hogue stock to make it real compact, and add a limb saver since that helps with felt recoil. The limb saver adds length, but if you get a short stock, then the added length of the limb saver doesn't make it extremely long lop like if you add it to the factory stock.

Ammo is the expensive part specialy when using 3" super shots.

For three gun, you would probably be looking for a M2 comfort tech stock with a 21-24" vented barrel.

Bozochu has it correct! A Benelli M2 with those specs are perfect for the game. If you can afford to spend the money, you'll have no regrets.

But IMO, if you're just starting out, buy the Mossberg 930 JM Pro as it's designed to be a 3-gun shotgun and you can have it for less than $700. It has all the features that you want for a Limited/Tactical class shotgun. Once you're done with the shotgun purchase, you will need accessories to keep the shotgun loaded. So, 4 or 6-shell caddies or a Mark Otto Load 2 vest. Also remember that for the shotgun, you'll need different types of ammo - birdshot, buckshot and slugs.

Unless you are starting with a Koeller (sp?) or Perazzi, nothing we usually buy is starting "too high end"..
