Starting too high end?

Hi everyone,

I'm tight on money right now and I have always had the mentality that if you're going to get one of something, then go high end to make it last.

After a lot of research and fiddling around, I found that the Benelli M2 Tactical works best for me.

I was also recommended the 930 SPX to start out with. Am I starting too high end with the M2? Should I go for a lower end shotgun to fully understand and appreciate everything else?

If you're tight on money the 930 spx will last you just as long as an m2 or m4. I say spend it on the 930 spx and use the money you would've saved from buying a benelli on ammo so you can practice. Then in the future, sell your 930 and buy an m4.

I was deciding between the two. I went with the m2 because its partially for fun, home, and I just started 3 gun. Its tapped for chokes, even though it has a shorter barrel than what the good 3 gunners use, I go to 3 gun to learn to shoot what I have in a dynamic setting, not neccesarily to score the best. I would have ended up paying to put chokes in the 930. Plus buying chokes, plus got a deal on a m2 used, it was a good idea for me.

IMO if your short on cash buying a gun for a expencive sport/hobby isn't the best idea.. Wait a few weeks or months till you have money and are comfortable buying the right gun..

Doesn't add up.. tight on cash and buying a pretty high priced/end shot gun for a pretty expensive hobby/short.... Cause to me it sounds like your spending good money than you don't have at the moment for a gun you don't really need just want.

The cost of the firearm is nothing compared to the cost of ammo. If you're having trouble coming up with funds for the gun, wait a while. A gun isn't going to do you any good if you can't afford to feed it.

OP--Get the M2! The 930 SPX is a fine gun but if your heart is set on the M-2 then just get it now because you are going to end up with one sooner or later.
Every time you shoot that second choice gun, you'll be thinking "I really wish I'd bought that M-2."

Haha, so true! It'll be paperweight if you just have a great gun with no ammo.

Save up and buy benelli and wait to shoot it or buy a 590 and shoot it in 10 days. Up to you. The sport is a expensive one so either way your going to spend

That said, I would retink the Tac model....get one that you can take to the range shoot a round of clays and spend 13.00 bucks.

Not like you can't use it in an emergency.

Interesting point. What other models do you recommend?

What do you plan on using it FOR?

My main reason for a shotgun is for home defense, working towards 3 gunning, and most importantly the "cool factor."

Also remember that if you want to get the capacity of the 930 spx on a benelli m2 tactical, you will spend another $200 on parts to extend the magazine and parts to stay 922r compliant.
