    "Only on calguns.net?"

We had a lively discussion on the merits of the gun. That's kind of the point of having a forum. Everyone gets to participate, read other opinions, and ultimately make up their own mind.

not a bad deal if they're gentle; you simply say "with the grease please."

I have both, the action on the 870 is a little smoother but the 982 is dead on with slugs and the GR sights to 50 yds.

Pretty interesting opinion from someone who has NEVER touched a 982, never worked on one, and has never even shot one!

Yes, everyone and their mother knows Aippi is familiar with the Remington 870 (good for him) but he only harms his "professional" reputation when he talks negatively about something he has ZERO experience with.

I'm not the smartest guy around but even I know that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to talk negatively about an 870 - because I personally have never spent time with one.

It just turns into yet another political rant from a "USA only or f**k off" gun nut. Yawn.

Kind of sad - but then again what to you expect from the interwebs.

              Calling 982 owners!
Can you change the barrel of the 982 with the longer one?

              TIA

If you would come to any reality you would simply state that these things work for you and are worth what you pay for them. One clown even stated the 987 was on par with the Remington 870 Police. Yes, he posted that right on calguns.net.

I am only adding the above as there are guys out there right now thinking about getting a shotgun and reading the mess you guys posted may keep him from getting a Remington, Winchester or Mossberg. So for that guy I say this. Man get a 500, 590, 1300 or 870 and don't fall for the mess in this thread.

Sorry if I make some of you mad, not my intention. Let's call it an intervention cause that is what is needed here.

So, the guy is a Remington dealer and comes over here to rag on the competition! What a surprise

Generic screws work fine, just make sure they fit. I bought mine from a local HW store (a well stocked HW store, not ACE/Lowes/HD.)

Its a joke to say the norinco is better in anyway to the 870. Won't feed cheap ammo? Why do you lie?

I'm sorry i read this thread, it was a waste of my time and filled with lies.

The H&R (used to be NEF) Pardner Pump barrels will fit, but H&R won't sell you one.

They will sell you a barrel if you have an H&R Pardner Pump but they require you to send in the SG for proper "fitting" which is BS.

You could look for a barrel online or buy one of the combo deals and keep the 28" VR barrel and sell the SG with the shorter barre or keep it and have two shot guns with a choice of 18.5" CB GR Sights, 22" Rifled w/Rifle Sights or 28" VR Bead Sight:

Or, you can make a spacer and use 870 barrels:

FYI, the spacer is a sleeve or tube that fits over the mag tube between the barrel ring and mag cap. It took me 7 months to figure that out!

                      Good Luck!

Good thing barrel changes are so easy on your knock-off, very abundant too, makes the gun very versatile.

When did we start talking about Mossbergs?

The 870 has traditionally been whatever you need it to be, bird gun, deer/slug gun, home defense gun. Easily converted from on to the other.

If your sole purpose is for HD then that's no big deal but if you want to shoot clay or fowl you would want the longer barrel.
