    Mossberg 590A1 weapon light?

In the past I've only owned one streamlight weapon light and it came faulty out of the box, streamlight sent a replacement part and it still didnt work, so I ended up giving it away and buying some Surefire x300u's and M640DF's for my pistols/centerfire rifles

enter my mossberg 590A1 that ive been neglecting for years... now that I am trying to spend more time with the
ol' mossy, id like a weapon light.... but it seems to be slim pickings. Currently i have a spare x300u-B attached to a piece of pic rail on my magpul forend by the support hand fingertips. Absolutely not the best setup and kind of a pain to turn it on, but it works.

the only current production forend light seems to be the Streamlight TL racker... surefire seems to have discontinued their shotgun line of weapon lights... is there anything else?
i'd prefer an integral light/forend setup but im also thinking about keeping the surefire x300u-b and then getting the pressure pad/adapter for the pistol light so it can be ran more like a rifle light.

anyone have first hand experience with the streamlight racker? Anyone got anything else?

LED was a "game changer" and there are so many amazing lights that work really well.

I think the trend changed and people mount their favorite quality light to the foreman's replace the tail cap with a pressure pad.

I have not seen a new forend for a shotgun in 20+ years.

I'm going to get flamed but consider the new Streamlight knock off for $50 at Harbor Freight. I picked up a couple and they are really good for the money, especially on a shotgun. A bit large for a compact or subcompact pistol but perfect size for a shotgun. It has the regular on off, pulse and strobe. Construction is rugged. I bought two and compared to my MUCH more expensive Streamlights, these HF Braun Weapons Lights are pretty damn nice. They have some in stock at the Simi Valley HF if that's near you at all?

Almost looks like HF went to wherever the SL made in China lights are from and told them.."Hey make us something that looks like SL but for less money"
          Almost.

Very good chance thats what they did. As you know, mass manufacturing in China is the wild west (in the East!)

Surefire still has a Mossberg shotgun weaponlight:

With four shotguns (three Remington shotguns; one Mossberg 590A1), I've got Surefire fore-end weaponlights and Picatinny mounted lights on my shotguns and rifles. Shop around. Decide which to try and get used to whichever is chosen.

If you can find one, the Surefire fore end light is the very best. Optics Planet may have them. I’d also call Midway.

I have a Streamlight on my 870. Quite happy with it.

Streamlight listened! The TL-Racker has opened up a whole new weapon light category for Streamlight — an all-in-one integrated shotgun forend light. It features a sleek design that eliminates the need for remote cords so it reduces snag hazards. Ideal for shotgun breaching, close quarter operations or elevating your home defense options.

Post 1, after a search, I only found one Surefire for Mossberg light, but an inflated price of $600 on Ebay.
I suppose before giving up on the Surefire fore-end light, to contact Surefire to make sure it's discontinued or some type of temporary supply-chain shortage.

Otherwise, I'd go with a Pic-rail on the fore-end and choose one of the many Pic-rail mountable weaponlights on the market.

The biggest problem with Surefire is they are a Govt Contractor and everything they make is about 3X what it should be in the real world. Therefore I have never bought any of their products and the fact that they insulted me at the SHOT Show a few years ago when I inquired about one of their Over Priced Suppressors means I won't ever buy any of their ****! I just don't like the Company!!!!!

I have had Perfect Service from all of my Streamlight's,,,, 6-8 I lost count Mostly TLR 1's on Pistols Rifles and Shotguns.. Around $100 each !

BUT; You got to decide if you are going get your Monies Worth out of a light on a gun. That you are probably not going to use very much,,, if at all. Nice to have the capability and even better if you don't have to pay $300 for it.

I also like mounting these lights on a Pic Rail at the 6 o clock position. They are easily removed during the day when you don't need them and reinstalled at night when you do..

Which brings us to the HF Light? Which at $50 is a bargain, and would probably do what is needed for just about all of us?

It's up to each of us to decide if we are going to war or just shooting Coons in the back Yard with my Wife's BB Gun. My Wife's BB gun has a Full Time Weapons Light on it that I paid $30 for 15 years ago. Still on the original Batteries and is plenty good for our ongoing War with Raccoons that Invade and Destroy my Wife's Flower Gardens which takes place at night! Over the years i have shot no less than 50 coons in the Butt which doesn't really have the desired effect on them I look for . I shot one 15 times before he finally got the message and left the property. We are talking 20-30 feet away !!! It's almost like they like it?

I just got an Umarex 50 cal. CO2 Pepperball Pistol that also shoots Hard Rubber Balls and Aluminum Balls It has a Pic Rail under the Muzzle and fits into my USA One Shot Pistol Brace which takes the gun from a hit and miss kind of thing to a hit every shot out to 20 yards kind of thing.

I might just get one of the HF Lights for it ?

The point of this lengthy Post is to help you figure out if you need to spend more by buying a $50 light that you can try out , and might just be all you need?.

Please Note: I also feel this way about Bushnell TRS 25 Red Dot Sights. Everyone of my Carbines have one installed. Best Bang for your Red Dot Buck out there.

Go with what works for you and don’t mind the price if it’s going by to be a SD eq that you 1 day may have to depend on.

Sure it hurts to sometimes spend a lot on a piece of eq, but maybe 1 day your going to have everything on that weapon to work and not fail because you possibly thought you can skip on something less expensive.

I have a $3,800 dollar Nighthawk that is not my primary weapon, some days I don’t even touch the thing, yet it hasn’t failed to work when I need it.

If it’s not that important and / or it does not like to work with you - ok no problem buddy - I use Streamlight and they so far have been gtg and customer service is also willing to help if things go south.

Either way ~ Good Luck 👍

It's not 6 o'clock oriented but can be easily taken off if not needed. Works for me not sure it would work to your liking.
