Anybody try "Centurian" bird shot shells?

I can only find comments on slugs and buckshot. Anybody try Centurian brand bird shot shells (#8, 2 3/4)? Thanks!

Never heard of them. I shoot Estate and Kent, both work well.

For 12ga I usually get what is cheapest for messing around or unregistered matches. I haven't find too much difference between the good shells and cheap shells (12ga)...

If they are cheap enough and shoots then I'd go for it. But if the pricing isn't much of a difference I'd use some of the named stuff.

The one concern I have is that they have only have 3/4 oz of shot. I usually shoot the 1 1/8 or maybe 1oz. 3/4 seems awfully small amount of shot.

Those are the Cabelas special, right? I saw the same ad. I bet they will shoot soft with 3/4oz. I have not tried them. I did buy a couple of cases of Estate, have never shot those either but as long as they go boom, all is good for me, I have shot just about every cheap brand on the market.

I would try a case and see how you like 'em.

Got an email from Cheaper Than Dirt. $50/case! Wow, but of course, they're saving ~30% lead.

Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

Heck, they're Italian. All of the Italian ammo I've seen has been good. Just hesitant about the 3/4 oz shot but I'm probably over thinking it.

Go to phillips http://phillipswholesale.net/ and buy the Remington Gunclub for $57/case + tax.

The 3/4 oz shot isn't gonna be a problem. My buddy loads 3/4 oz 12ga for his sporting clays loads and he loves the pattern. He said they are very soft to shoot too!

3/4 of an ounce of shot versus 1 ounce or more isn't that big a deal. If you are putting the shot on the clay it's plenty.

A lot of serious reloaders I know put their 12 gauge loads up as 3/4 ounce. They will shoot very soft at 1050-1100 fps.

Centurion... my 1100 didn't like it. My over under shot it okay, but it didn't pattern all that well. My over under loves Remington Gun Club, and my 1100 shoots best with Federal 'Top Gun' Target loads, the ones with the clay on the box. They are comparable to Estate or Remington Gun Club. Both types are well suited to reloading. The Gun Club shells I can get at my club at Wal-Mart type pricing, the Federal I usually get at Wal-Mart for $5.47 a box. When I can find a sale on either I'll buy a couple cases if the shipping winds up less than the sales tax I pay locally, but that's nearly impossible any more.

Got the same email from CTD...but, when I saw this note on their site, I did not place the order.

"These are great practice rounds and work best in Pump or O/U Shotguns"

I'm wondering if they don't cycle well in semi auto? (looks like BigDogatPlay did have that experience)...guess I'll stick with Wally Federals

They're pretty damn good shells, they're very popular in Europe probably one of the larger Italian shotshell ammo makers. IIRC they're another branding of Nobelsport ammo.

It's good stuff, light recoiling quality ammo. Cheddite hulls and primers tho.

Thanks for the tip Jordan! I've been told to use Remington for 12ga reloads. Just can't seem to find them on the Walmart shelves anymore. Might pick some up on Saturday.

Yep, 3/4 oz usually will not work in most semi-auto's. I generally load my Gold down to a 1200 fps 7/8 oz load, the 3/4 oz load MIGHT make it work, but it's really pushing the limits on the low end for nearly all semi-auto guns.. Most guns tend to like 1 oz or heavier payloads to work reliably.
