a used 391 or a BNIB lanber 2097 should get you started/covered. but if you just want to shoot single trap, i recomend a used bt-99 or 100. my .02 cents

thanks so much for everyone's input. Really appreciate it.

I just picked up a used 30" Citori from a fellow Calgun member for a great price. Gun is in real good shape and was sitting in a safe for 15+ yrs. Heard lots of great things about this gun from everyone here and also from 2 hrs of research on the web.

Will take it shooting next week.

I'm with Big Al...dedicated trap only gun for singles work, in your price range:

Browning BT-99. New or used, newer style or older, they're awesome. The discontinued BT-100 gives you a drop out trigger group, but is harder to find and generally more expensive.

        Bought my 2008 34" -99 off a good friend of mine...if I do my part she'll smoke'em all day long\
        edit:

woops, you bought one lol - 30" Citoris were my other recommendation, especially if it's a trap model. Congrats!

Yes! Thanks for following up. The Citori is great. Accurate and not that tiring to shoot even after 75 rounds. I really like it.

Now, I just have to change the recoil pad since it has hardened-up a bit due to time in the safe. I will also have a smith install a 2nd ball mid-length on the barrel.

              So far, very good.

Sounds awesome. Glad you are enjoying it. That's the most important thing.

Awesome...I will probably be there today after work....
                  Congrats on the Citori....

Do you really need a second ball mid-length on the barrel?

I find them more of a distraction than an aid to shooting them orange things..

I was thinking about getting one on my Lanber. It helps you get lined up. Once you are lined up with the gun, the swing is much better for me (accurate). But that might also be the noob in me. I've never had any formal training.
