    870 refinish

Anyone able to recommend a good place to have a 870 12 gauge police model refinished? The steel is turning a bit like a bronze color in many spots and there are some patches of rust. It runs 100% but I'd prefer to have it freshened up. I cant even tell how old it is, bought it as a LEO trade in.

I'm in Norcal. Any ideas guys?

        Blue, chrome, park, paint, np3?

        Define "refinish".

I don't anything fancy. Just blue or park. I never thought much about parkerizing it but i read some do. Is it better than bluing? Aesthetics aside.

It said satin on there too...not sure.

JD does the best parkerize job I have ever had done. He blasts the parts to a nice tooth and applies a very deep/black finish. Then he polishes the chamber and bore. And fast. I sent my receiver and barrel to him mid week and received it back the end of the following week! He also RETURNS CALLS and will spend as much time as you need answering questions/suggestions which is refreshing in this day and age.

His work is so good, I wish he did more than just the 870 but that's what makes him the expert.

If you are in or near the Sonoma County area, talk to Wael at Independence Armory in Petaluma. He parked a pretty beat up Remington 722 rifle for me and the work was top notch. Super job on the bead blast and a quality coat in a nice grey black.

              Otherwise, what Ribkick says above.

You could always send it off to Hans Vang. It's a move you'll never regret.

Yea it I'm reading his website now. Looks like for a basic bead blast and finish its runs, with shipping involved, 200ish. But the website says the barrel is 160, and if I do the receiver, barrel and tube its 170?....

No, receiver AND barrel is 160. Receiver AND barrel AND mag tube is 170.

Yes, it was 200 for all and like I said, the best park job I've ever had done.

I'd just duracoat it. If you really want it to look sweet, prepare the surfaces by bead blasting. You can get a DIY kit for about $46 including the shipping. Just saying.
