Reclaimed Shot for Small Gauges

Does anyone have any experience reloading reclaimed shot for 28 g and .410?

I overheard a conversation on the skeet field about only using new shot for the small gauges. Something to do with the uniformity of the shot and it may not feed properly on the reloaders.

I have not, but with the smaller diameter of 28 and especially 410 shells, it seems logical that deformed reclaimed shot could jam up upon reloading causing less shot to enter the shell than was intended.

A lot depends on how well the reclaimed shot is cleaned and the size shot being used.

^^^This and the larger the shot, the more jams in the loader. If the shot has different sizes in it, the shot tends to get stuck in the shot tube of most loaders. This is especially true on the 410, not as bad on the 28. ANYTHING that is a little out of whack on a 410 is amplified because there is little space inside the hull itself.

Is it reclaimed and redropped? Anything larger than 7-1/2 is a problem reloading .410. If it's not redropped shot, I wouldn't want to give up a good pattern in the smaller gauges.

I have a buddy that shoots reclaims from Triple Bs when they sold reclaims. He had pretty good success loading the 410 with the Triple Bs reclaims. I really didn't notice him missing a beat shooting the reclaims!!
