Coach used to have evening classes there. I spend many a daylight saving nights there in the clinic.

There usually are some guys shooting there early evenings!
Wanna learn to shoot SKEET? I am here to introduce all shooters to the sport of SKEET Shooting ....

I hope to do the same this spring/summer, I assume they have open fields during the week? How does it work if you are by yourself? Would be cool to see other clinic students out there to help each other out. Mike

I'm game. shoot me a PM or post a thread and I'll more than likely attend. I live about 10 minutes away from Triple B.

I have shot skeet solo once. It sucked! You can set a time of 1-5 seconds after you push the button, but i could never get it right. I felt rushed setting up and focusing on the bird. Also I enjoy the and talking to other shooters.

Great place with a lot of shooting venues, but here are somethings to expect:

                1) They will make you take a test (24+ multiple choice questions).
                - if you miss 1 or 2, they may let you rent their gun (depends if the boss is there and how she is confident about you...ie: older gents, etc..)
                - if you miss more than 2, they may require you to get one-on-one instructing (again, if you are renting their gun)
                - one-on-one instructing may be $45 or $65 per person and comes with rounds and targets (# of rounds and targets will vary depending on the package).
                - John and Paul are great instructors there. John's son is also great.

                2) Very packed on the weekends for trap shooting since there is only 2 open sections for non-members.

                3) a lot of varieties to chose from for Sporting Clays.

Good tips for those who have never been to Triple B's.

The majority of the people responding to this thread have already been to Triple B's and have taken the Skeet Clinic (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=329160). Also if you take the skeet clinic you will not have to do the test. You just go pro shop and state you're taking the Don Ziegler clinic and they waive it. Clinic is also only $20, plus range fee (1-2 games of skeet @ $9 a round). Best deal in town.

Thanks for the tip on the skeet clinic.

The boss made my friends and I mount their shotgun (place it one our shoulder and look down the barrel) in the store before she can okay the rent. This is after they only got 1 and 2 wrong, respectively.

So even with the skeet clinic, the boss might be paranoid enough to have customers do that.

I shot my first round of skeet at Triple Bs. I say round, but more like "pulls" along the stations with varying order and number. Been shooting shotgun with my family before that a few months prior. I think I missed 4-5 questions. The questions that I missed are biased on knowing shotgun games and rules, not particularly tied to range safety. Being unfamiliar with any shotgun games (trap, skeet, sporting clay) at the time, I did not understand or know the terminology and rules associated with those games. Hence the incorrect answers.

Because of these incorrect answers, I felt extorted into paying for an instructor. Extorted may be a strong choice of words here, as I could have easily walked out, but I did not know of any other places to play skeet at the time. My father-in-law used to play there before. He said over 10-15 years ago. We had our family there, so I just sucked it up and paid.

Wrong or right you decide. Don't know if other ranges do this either. All I know is that I'm a member at Oak Tree now, which I didn't have to take a test when I first played there.

I go to Triple B to attend the skeet clinic as that's where they run it.

Bottom line: Attend the skeet clinic!!

Thanks for the advice and story! Now I don't feel so bad when I was told I was holding the dam shotgun wrong even with 2 years of experience and 2 instructors.

So you plan on going tonight? Weather looks good, but will probably be a bit windy with a new storm coming in tomorrow. 7-11 MPH winds http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/sou...orecast/337255

Let me know I should be able to make it. At earliest I can make it is about 7 PM though. Enrique
