I saw that numrich is out of shell latches for the PP. Do you think rem 870 latches will work? Maybe you can buy some used ones on Gunbroker and give it a try.

Let's see. Remington has owned H&R for what, 6 years now. So they import a copy of their best selling model that is built better and cost half as much. Does anyone see the conflict here? No, because there is not one. The H&R clone is not built better. It is built for the import clone market. It is what it is and guys who are coming on here making it more then that may convince some Newbee's but few others.

With that said, the weapon works fine and it sounds like the the one guy just got a lemon. Others have sucess with these weapons and enjoy them. They understand what they paid for.
My feeling about the clones are that they lack quality control, you get a good one, then a bad one. But what do expect for the price you pay.
I guess you take your chances when you buy one.

I plan on only getting a new forend (either the pistol grip or one with a rail) and putting on a TLR-1.
If you are wanting to go down the road of customizing your shotgun, read up on other posts about compliance with 18 USC 922R, or simply 922r.
Bottomline is that if you start with a U.S. manufactured piece, you will face fewer legal constraints.

There is also a useful guide called a Shotgun Flowchart -- thanks Calguns and to the authors of this document!

I am thinking about an 870, but would anyone recommend another Remington shotgun model?
Police have used the 870 for umpteen years..You still haven't said what the use is for so whatever... get whatever ya want...Spnd $400 on something that's gonna sit in your closet ...

The majority of PP seem to be okay. I think you got a lemon.

Looks sweet. Is that the original H&R stock or a Remington stock on your Pardner?

basically the Shell latch is getting caught and a new round won't go into the chamber because it gets stuck.
Here is a video of my H&R

I tried calling H and R to replace that shell latch but they said they had no clue what I was talking about and could not send an extra part to me

Now don't get me wrong the shotgun still works but I cannot load anything into the tube or it gets stuck. I have to do chamber loads.
Oh also first time going to the range I was super excited to shoot it and I brought slugs, buck and bird shot. shoot bird its fine shoot buck that goes fine. then I shoot Slugs and my front bead falls off! I was like wtf?!?!
Save yourself the trouble and get an actual remy. If I were to buy a shotgun again it would be a Remington or a mossberg. Also with the Pardner pump you need to send the shotgun to the manufactuer to get a new barrel if you wanted one. with mossberg and Remington you can order off their website without sending yours.
you bent the shell latch to far inboard, you can try wedging something underneath to serve as a fulcrum then bend the latch outwards with your fingers to catch the action bar then heat it with a torch. the latch and the bar have to ride one on top of the other.

i recommend the Maverick 88 by Mossberg...ive had mine a few years now...only cost me $209 when it went on sale at turners.

seems to get better reviews than the H&R PP

^THIS^ Never can go wrong with an 870 even if it's an older model. For the extra money, this can and will work. Not saying anything else wont work but should you need parts, the 870 parts are highly available and very customizable.

                          Its a 1970's Remington stock.

So glad I was able to find it for $35 on eBay.
