Mossberg 500 forend problem...help!

Ive tried two different forends (OEM Mossberg ribbed forend and Phoenix Technology) on my Mossberg 500 and neither of them worked. What forend can I put that will work? I own the 500 model that Big 5 sells with the two different barrels. I need to replace the forend because I "ghetto-fied" it by hacking off part of it due to having a side saddle. On both the forends Ive tried they didnt fit all the way over the action tube, therefore I wasnt able to secure it with the locking nut. Am I doing something wrong or is there no forend that will fit this particular model?

Thanks for the info! I should've asked this question after the first forensic didn't work. Ill just save my money I'm not shelling out another 60 bucks. What a rip off!

Post pictures, if you can get the forend off the action tube all you need is a new forend. It sounds like you have a 7 1/8 tube and are trying to fit a 6 5/8 forend on the gun. Measure and post the length of the action tube or just pics and we can diagnose.

The one you posted to buy will work but we might be able to save you money.

If your original forend comes off and you are left with a bare tube with slides ( like you posted) then all you need is the right forend grip. Since you said you couldn't fit all the way over the action tube and you weren't able to secure the lockign nut leads me to believe you are purchasing the foregrip made for the longer slide tube. You can sell the ones that do not work for you on the for sale forum and pick up a shorter grip.
Post a pic of your shotgun with the foregrip removed so we can see.
