Here's another discussion about that particular gun/ad:
-
The difference between the 500 and the 590 are...
590A1:
- parkerized
- metal trigger gaurd
- thicker heavier barrel (no heat shield)
- bayonet lug on 20" barrel (8+1 shot)
- barrel mounts to tube mag differently then 500
- Ghost ring sights <-- I think*
590:
- parkerized
- metal trigger guard
- regular barrel with heat shield
- may or may not hat bayo lug on 20" barrel
- barrel mounts to tube mag differently then 500
500
- usually blued, but can come parked or marin coated
- plastic trigger guard
- usually doesnot have bayo lug
- regular barrel so heat shield will fit, but usually does not come with one from the factory
- barrel mounts to tube mag with a screw so barrel swapping is easy with 5+1 magazine tube
- usually can get a combo 18" barrel and 28" vent ribbed barrel
I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can remember right now....
The thumbhole stock I've only seen come with the 535 I think. And is only for right handed shooters.... Poor me I'm a lefty and I like the look of the thumbholeLast edited by Baron; 01-07-2008, 1:08 PM..

sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.

Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.

Regards 590 and 590A1
i saw a 590 at big 5 in concord a couple of weeks ago, on the under side of the barrel near the feed entrance it says 590, it had the heat shield but i had a slick metal black sheen to it , versas a 590A1 i saw at another dealer that had 590A1 under the barrel and it had the heat shield as well how ever the finish was dull almost matte to the surface i prefer the 590A1 you may pay al ittle more but your geting a more robust gun , which might be a little over kill if your just owning one for home defence , the A1 is made tougher for constant use in battle field situations. the A1 version i saw was selling new for $399 is this a good deal let me know?Comment
