O/U ?

I am new to the O/U shotguns. I was looking at several over last few days. I noticed that on a few there was a semi circle of grease more pronounced on one side vs the other at the point where the gun pivots when opening. Is this normal or should it be evenly spread on both sides?

I didn't notice any wear in these areas but they are new guns and just want to make sure this is not a problem in the future. I guess it is possible that there just happen to be more grease on one side. Thoughts or experience with this issue. Thanks

Grease should be evenly spread on ALL contact/pivot points.

That was my thoughts as well. Thank you. This is a new gun is it possible the grease was not evenly applied or was wiped away when it was assembled in the store? The gun did not seem to have a sticking point when it was opened but it just caught my eye when I saw it more on one side vs the other. Thanks

I wouldn't worry very much about grease; it may be leaking out of a joint where too much was put on at the factory. I WOULD worry if the gun were binding at that area or if it showed uneven bright metal or finish loss at any point in the action. If it is fitted properly, it should wear evenly on all bearing points.
