At my club on public days we have sign up sheets at each field. Squads of five are formed and squads take the field as their sheet comes up. Sign up on the first sheet with openings and gas with others while you wait your turn. We use voice activated calls and try to have pullers (club members doing their volunteer hours) to keep things moving and orderly at each field, but if all six fields are running then some of the fields will be members taking care of themselves.
The shooter starting the round in the #1 position is the squad leader, and if there is no puller the squad leader is in charge.
For our five stand sporting clays field there is always a puller as we don't have voice calls on that field.
Most other places I've shot trap are pretty much the same.
