Is Randall still fixing benelli thumb?

Randall, are you still fixing lifting gates on the benelli m1s90?

My left thumb would like a new or modified lift gate...

In case you can't take it to him locally, I'd recommend Jeff Cockrum. Quick service and good pricing.

Check with Dave's Metal Works in Covina,626-859-0299. I've seen a few that he's welded and reshaped, he does a good job.

I think you'll have to go over to caprc to find Randall.

Dave and Jeff are both great too.

Weld it? I thought of doing that until I was taught the proper way to load shells into a benelli. Came out cheaper too.

Most shooters who weld up the lifter are 3 gun competitors and it is just easier and safer the have the lifter welded up. Also how you load your shotgun matters alot.
Flip and burn, Grits, (twins), weak hand. Shotgun competition is won on reloading, not shooting.

I was at Dave's Metal Works today,he has modified lifters in stock. He tries to keep them in stock,he will modify your lifter, exchange your lifter for a modified one, or sell you one outright.626-859-0299

Since we are talking about this...

Why does benelli have the lifters made like this? Is there some sort of advantage for having it pronged like that? I'm not a 3 gunner, but if I don't have to have the risk of getting benelli thumb, why not? Any disadvantages for having it welded up ?

                    Thanks guys.

Randall is still working on Benellis. PM him over on the CaPRC board and he should get back to you pretty quickly.

The notch cradles the shell when in the up position and helps guide it straight into the chamber. Many manufacturers do this.

I sent my trigger group to Dave at DMW forbade re-weld and speedbar. I'll let you all know the outcome next week when it returns.

Following on what 3gunfun said, welded lifters really come into their own when you are loading your shotgun on the clock, under stress, while doing several things at once (loading while moving, looking elsewhere, thinking, planning, etc)... If you never load your Benelli under time pressure, I wouldn't worry about your lifter.
