    Low Recoil .410 Help?

    I know, low recoil .410?
I have a good friend that is confined to a wheelchair with a rare disorder called Ehler's Syndrome. In simple terms, the body's connective tissue fails to do it's job. Something as simple as a friendly slap on the back can dislocate a shoulder, and a cough can separate ribs. It's passed through genetics, and unfortunately, his daughter has it.
She is the young lady I want to help.
They live on a small farm and raise chickens and goats to supplement a small fixed income. Local varmints think it's their smorgasbord. She recently got a single shot .22/.410, as she's the livestock protector. Factory 2.5" #7.5 field loads are still a little too hot for her. Lengthening the forcing cone, and a slip on recoil pad are in the works.
    What I need help with:
Does anyone make commercially available light recoil loads for the .410 other than the HD loads?
I've had zero luck trying to find any.
    Option B:
Anyone have for sale, trade, or barter, a .410 reloader? Cheap?
Lee doesn't offer the .410 Lee loader anymore. Her dad is an experience reloader, it's one thing he can still do.

The GraCoil is a compression butt plate with an adjustable tension setting and adjustable pad plate. Adjustments for length, drop, and rotation allow factor ...

This might be a little expensive, but a Gracoil and a thick gooey recoil pad like a Kick-Ezz might do the trick.

I've seen Mec's going for under $100 here before. The new ones are not really expensive ... CLICK HERE

My condolences first. I don't really know of any low recoil .410 rounds other than for HD. But regardless to what people think, I have a 1.5 lbs rossi tufty .410 that kicks like a mule. Maybe she should try a .22?

I've had problems reloading .410. Sometimes, static electricity will catch the powder in the drop tube and hold some or all of the charge until shot drops through and pushes it out. Make sure your friend knows about this and watches for it. Last year, at SHOT, I spoke with MEC about this and they admitted to having heard of it before. They suggested wiping the drop tube with dryer sheets at the start of every loading session. Someone else recommended wrapping dryer sheets around the powder bottle or inside the powder bottle. I haven't loaded any .410 since then so, I can't tell you which, if either works.

Just a thought, have you tried .45LC shotshells???? They might be exactly what she needs. If so, no new press would be required. Just 45LC dies and shot capsules.

Can't say I have ever heard of a low recoil .410 offering. Savage sells a smoothbore .22 rifle and Marlin used to make the 'Garden Gun' in .22 WMR shotshell. Great idea about the .45 Colt shotshells too!
