You're missing the point. If he's going spend $2K on a shotgun, what I said was look for a USED shotgun like a Perazzi. He will eventually move up to that level anyway so why spend the money twice.....

Soulfresh, you may want to take a look at the SKB 85TSS - they make a sporting clays model with either a fixed or adjustable comb. New, they're just in your ballpark...used - there are some good deals out there.

Do note that SKB is out of business in Japan; however SKB-USA has a large enough inventory of guns and parts to last a decade or so.

From what I hear, they're quality, durable guns in their own right.

What exactly are you paying for with the P's and K's?

vs sub $700 O/U's

Both barrels are calerberated ( shoot to the same spot), will pattern most any load to the point that there are pellets in
every inch of the pattern. Will last hundreds of thousands of rounds without shooting the action loose. Most parts are hand fitted. High grade stocks and blueing. Silky triggers. Super well balanced so to raise and swing effortlessly.

You do'n need to buy a P or K to find some or all the above....buy they are some of the best at it.

Rayreys i actually have held that exact model and it fits and feels good. my eyes align right with the front bead. based on my research though i heard SKBs have a lot of firing pin and other small parts issues. i really dont want to deal with that. plus i havnt shot it yet, but the price is within range.

theFeeder are you going to have any class in norcal anytime soon? i was planning on attending and maybe you could help me find a good fit o/u. if you have any berettas in your classes to try that would be great also.

I hope some of our clinic students would chime in on Brownings and Berettas. Lots of them have shot both and I have several of both I use in our clinics.

Might want to see if you can find a used Remington 3200. One of the best ever made, though a little heavy.

Looking past all the other post, here are the guns you probably can look into:

1) A Browning Citori 3-4-5 25 Sporting... sub2K for a used one.
2) A Beretta 686 White Onyx Sporting or 687 Silver Pigeon II Sporting... mid 1K-686, sub2K-687 used.
3) A Winchester Select Sporting or 101 Sporting... sub2K for new.

Those are the ones I would recommand as I have first hand experience with all three. There are others such as Franchi or SKB but I have no first hand experience with them.

great thanks for the info. ill take a look and see where i can find these. how do i tell which is a sporting clays model vs field model in a store? will it say on the gun or just based off the weight and barrel length?

i called practically every store around my area that i thought would have a o/u in 30. but none carry. all can order but none have in stock.
