Hey Nor Cal Scot I have a Maverick 88 I am waiting to get out of 10 day jail. It has the regular black synthetic stock if you want to trade. I'm in Chico so we could do a face to face, no shipping fees. Pm me if interested.

I've been looking at the 590a1 for a while now and I've been wondering if it's worth the extra money over the bare bones 500. Does anyone have any experience with both? I don't mean to hijack the thread but I don't want to make a new one based on that question because I'm not at the stage of being too serious about the purchase yet.

Don't feel bad, you live and you learn. I actually bought a forearm w/ strap on eBay for my 590a1, then realized wood furniture is the way to go! I also bought one of those side saddles, sold it on the CG forum.

You know, I think I may have spoke too soon. I have shot the gun twice so far. Once with my dad. He adjusted the stock to fit him better. As I will be shooting with a lot of different people, this may come in handy. I'm gonna keep on it, but if I change my mind, I'll let you know. Thanks though!

Yeah, and now you know why mine still has it.

I would love nice hardwood furniture for mine but the adaptability is great! Even if the controls are a little clunky to use wit the pistolgrip.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.
