I've not seen a pistolgrip for a SxS SHOTGUN for years.

And it is SHOTGUN or SG...Shotty is for Arfcom & the unenlightened
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....

I've been wondering when "shotty" began to be used? I've been around shooting sports for 41 years and this is the first place I've seen the term used. I've never heard the term uttered from the lips of anyone that has years of experience with shotguns. I believe that this slang term, like so many others in various disiplines, is typically used by those that are only slightly knowledgable on the subject and trying too hard to impress others with their (limited) knowledge. Of course, as with any generalization, there are exceptions. Kimbercarry would be one.

Seeing that a pistol grip only "shotgun" is not legally a shotgun; maybe shotty might be an appropriate name for this type of firearm.

Perhaps you are more unenlightened than you know.
That would indeed BE the definition of being unenlightened.

But hey, no biggie to me on the naming thing..just personally makes me cringe whenever I read it...much like stumbling across someone talking For-tays: its a relavant term.....

I don't think the OP is going to have much luck short of a custom stock (PG + SxS).

Maybe look into the Stoeger Coach Gun?

The only option I'm aware of for something like that is to buy a SxS and cut the stock down. Have a gunsmith do it if you're unsure of your woodworking skills. There is no SxS to speak of that is as modular as an 870 or 500 where you can just remove the stock and put on a pistol grip. Make sure if you do cut one down you keep both CA & Federal barrel and overall length requirements in mind.

I think that you misspelled a word. If you want to accurately describe the attempted build perhaps you should substitute an "i" for the "o" in shotty. Then it would be an appropriate name.

I too, on occasion, refer to a shotgun as a shotty. But hey, I also have been known to call a Desert Eagle a "deagle". Too much CounterStrike in my college years.
