    11-87 External and Internal Choke?

If an 1187 has an external choke on it (screw it in by hand, sticks out 2-3 inches) will it still accept internal chokes?

    Will any remington choke fit?

Yes, the regular internal screw in chokes will work.

They are basically the same thing. Both are "internal" chokes, its just one is longer and sticks out pass the barrel. The extended chokes are preferred because they are easily interchangable, because they just screws out by hand.

Assuming you are talking about a Remington barrel that was factory threaded for Rem Chokes, then yes. You have make sure that someone did not take the Remington Barrel and thread it for some off brand.

Screw the extended choke off and compare the threads to a Rem Choke tube and that will tell you all you need to know.

Yes it is a remington choke that's on there.

Also, it came loose twice in 60 rounds while shooting.. it had to be hand tightened slightly. Is that normal behavior?

Yes, it is somewhat normal for a choke tube to shoot loose. Put a little grease on the thread of the choke, that'll help it stay in place. This is another reason I like using extended choke tubes.

You say this because it is easy to just screw back in by hand?

Because the one that came loose is an extended full choke, and I'm looking for a modified for trap, but can only find modified as internal (but would prefer extended).

Do choke tubes labelled to fit Remington 1100 fit the 11-87?

Yes, they absolutely should, unless the barrel was done by someone other than the factory. 1100, 11-87 and 870 all use the proprietary Rem-Choke thread.

Is this an external choke that would work on an 11-87?

Pro Bore and Rem choke are different. The threads on Probore are at the end of the barrel.

                            Rem choke:
