      the rem 870 or the moss 500 would be good choices. both are decently priced, solid, and have large aftermarket following should you choose to customize or replace/repair parts.

            I really like my Weatherby PA-459 HD shotgun... Cheaper than an 870 and just as fun to shoot.

              Plusplus, you gun is a good one but doesn't really make the best gun for the highlighted purposes

                  I went to the store today (to buy an XD9 tac) but also looked at shotguns (and rifles, etc.) I specifically handled an 870 and a 500, and to be honest, the 500 had a better feeling (and sounding) pump action. I also like that the 500 may be easier to feed without getting my thumb caught. I'm still undecided, but it was nice to handle the guns.

                    I would say either mossberg 500 or Remington 870 depending how you like your safety mounted. Mossberg maverick another option. The Remingtons will cost a hair more. The end.
