Local Range does not allow pistol grip shotguns?

I've been itching to go shooting, but the nearest indoor range (Insight Shooting Range) doesn't allow pistol grip shotguns for some reason.

Does anyone know why? Does it pose a safety risk somehow?

I thought pistol grips increase control over the weapon?

    Any possible legal issues?

    Thanks.

Most indoor ranges around here ban shotguns because of all the tards shooting up the ceiling.

Pistol grip only shotguns would make that problem worse. Maybe that's what they are talking about.

        Wait, what. I'm confused.

        Rule from their website :

14 NO pistol grip shotguns allowed

Is this rule referring to shotguns with stocks and pistol grips, or the very short shotguns I see that only have a pistol grip?

              To clarify :

I want to shoot my Benelli M4.

Example Picture : (Benelli M2 with pistol grip and stock.)

Do you think they are referring to these kinds of pistol grips? Or the short non-stock ones?

It would be funny to put a Solar Tac Grip Wrap around it and the explain to them that it is not a Pistol Grip anymore

They allow PG w/ bs...i SHOT MY pA459 over the weekend.

The only thing I don't like is they make you buy their bird shot, sucks when you walk in with 4 boxes of your own stuff.

They are talking about PG only shottys.

They don't allow them because they offer less control and have to be shot from the hip (almost).

You will be fine if your M4 also has a butt stock.

No prob. That was my range of choice (also close to my house) but I will be looking for someplace that will allow me to shoot my own (shotty) ammo.

I think Burro Canyon allows it, but it's far, and it's first come.

So what exactly is this "kydex wrap"? I was looking at a few pics of em, but how can you even grip the weapon?

Sounds like they are not being clear about pistol grip only shotguns (like a Mossberg Cruiser) vs. shotguns that have a pistol grip and a normal stock, but it seems like you figured it out.

When in doubt, ask them specifically what they mean in their rules... remember most range rules are written by lawyers to be sort of generalized on purpose...

They just turn what was once a pistol grip into something resembling a standard rifle stock where you can't wrap your thumb around (which is arguably the defining characteristic of a "pistol grip")... similar products are how you run an AR or AK-type rifle as "featureless" in CA to allow other configurations that might otherwise be illegal.
