I'm leaning towards parkerizing it and a Trijicon front bead only . . . .
I soldered a front sight ramp and parked mine. One of my funnest guns. Be wary of cheap ammo when slam fireing. The steel / AL bases dont come out of the chamber as fast as brass and I've had FTE.

Didn't pay much for it and I doubt it's worth much as it was. I decided to go ahead and clean it up to see if I could get anything out of it and still sleep at night. Several hours to completely disassemble, clean and apply a couple of coats of cold blue. I was amazed at how well it cleaned up and even took the cold blue pretty well. So then the wheels started turning. I noticed the gun would fit in my Go Bag perfectly when broken down if I cut the barrel down to 20". Since this gun is from the good old days it is built incredibly strong and with no concern for current games rules so it has a (6) round tube
              Before mods:

I took the leap and did a hacksaw/file job on the barrel this afternoon. I think it turned out great!

I need to get a new bead on it and I think I may even put a nice finish (not sure what yet) on it. I think I may even get crazy and have it cut for chokes and maybe even ported. Wonder if Vang Comp would touch it with a 10' pole?

Shot it anyway and it was a freaking blast. Put (50) birdshot, (5) slugs and (5) buckshot though it with no problem at all. I really like this gun!

I forgot the best part, it's a slam fire gun!
It's a beauty - well done. I wouldn't bother on the porting and other than tightening up your pattern with cheaper shotshells the cylinder bore really is the way to go.

I don't follow on the "slam fire" comment.

hold down trigger, rack pump, shotgun fires = slamfire on a pump... Also works on some pump rifles...

i would have left it in it's original configuration; the purist in me sometimes restricts my movement with projects i would otherwise move forward with.

i hope this project turns out well for you. it is nice to see that someone is excited to own this old Winchester.
