Big 5 has an 11 day wait?

It seems they don't like playing the 10 days wait on the minute, in other words they don't follow the law, and make it an 11 day wait instead.

    Any way around this?

Nope. It's their policy so as to avoid any possibility of getting in trouble with the law. Shop elsewhere if it's a problem.

Yep, it's their store policy cause the regular folk they sell too usually doesn't know its 10 days on the nose, so they do the 11 day deal to keep it simple.

just politely inform them that 10 consecutive 24-hour periods have passed and you'd like to pick up your purchase. they know the law and will release it. at least they did on my last purchase.

yeah, slightly annoying policy that they have. They will not budge on it either. They have some other policies related to firearms purchases, transfers, etc. that are just annoying.

For private party transfers they are convent since they are open so late so there are some pro's and cons for certain things.

Interesting I wonder why they make you wait the extra day?

Big 5 by my house I wouldn't doubt if they had no clue what a PPT was and called the law if I came in with a firearm.

Told me I had to be 21 to purchase long gun ammo and while looking at what was on sale the guy behind the counter was nice and pointed out what was what on the shelf including the machine gun ammo...

Unless it's a doggone good deal and you've had previous interactions with the store manager that went well find a brick and mortar store better to support small business anyway.

Probably just to make themselves feel better. The extra day does nothing really except for prevent them from having to check to see if you met the 10 day (to the tee) timeframe.

While I do find 11 day waits a little annoying it certainly Isn't the end of the world. Nowadays I'm lucky if I can make my pickup at the 14 day mark.

BTW Big 5 may have annoying policies and a bunch of goobers behind the gun counter but you gotta cut em some slack when it's a store policy.

They dont want to put their FFL liscence at risk over counting minutes and they are not required to release it after 10 days. Its their policy and if you don't like it then dont shop there. This topic has been done to death. How about we learn to use the search feature, shall we?

Its just a CYA move on their part. I don't agree with it, but I understand the reasoning.

Sorry California law trumps store policy. Give me my firearm after 240 hours.
I go by them time on the droes paperwork if it says 5:35pm I want the gun in my hand at 5:36pm on the tenth day.

Actually CA law allows for up to a 15 day wait.
