Surefire ep's work great and don't get in the way. Once they're in I don't notice them at all. Also come in various sizes. Always carry a pair of GI plugs in my vehicles to, you never know when you need ear protection.

I personally use a foam. The ones that are rated at 33NRR. Becareful of some electronic ones as they are only rated around 25NRR.

To use the foams properly you'll have to rolled them up in your fingers and with your opposite hand pulling your ear up to enlarge your ear canal. Once you have them rolled up stick'em in your ear fast!!! Or they'll expend ... It takes lots of practice to put those suckers in, but they do the job and doesn't get in the way.

I used Howard Leight "Laser Lite" plugs on my motorcycle. Roll them up and the disgusting secret is this ... give yourself a wet willy. Lick your finger and stick it in your ear, then the rolled up plug goes in easier. I had custom ones, but they were of a harder plastic and really hurt after a while. The laser lites were great. I use ear muffs for pistol shooting as I find them more convenient, though they get in the way of shooting glasses.

Oh yeah, I had a pair of Caldwell "low profile eMax" electronic ear muffs and returned them. They had a constant hiss in them and didn't really work well (even when off) to stop a lot of noise. The instructions say "Hissing? Is there a cell phone nearby?" ... when ISN'T there a cell phone nearby?

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

You can custom fit your own with a set from Raidans. They are available from Amazon and also in several retail stores like Bass Pro and Cabellas. The cost is about $15, and it is pretty much fool proof. Take about 1 minute to mix the two parts together and insert it into your ear. Wait 10 minutes and they come out, molded to your ears perfectly. Set them aside and they are completely cured in about 2 hours. They are the exact same material as the ones at he gun shows or at the range, without spending an extra $30 to have somebody mix the stuff.
