My new Saiga 12 whooped @$$!!

Went to the range to try out my new Saiga 12 (converted) the first 20 rounds or so were jamming up every other or so, at this point I was a little pissedthinking I had problems from the very get go or even maybe a lemon but I kept at it.

Took a little break and came back... from then on it never jammed up again letting off another 50+ 00 rounds, it either needed to be broken in or a little @ss whoopen... Well the converted Saiga 12 comes with the worst stock ever! Like the AK Stock or the Romanian PSL Stock they have METAL!! butt plate.

Got home and noticed my shoulder was sore and itchy so took a look and Wallah!! The Saiga 12 actually whooped my @$$!!!

suggestion:
1) A decent stock that functions (has padding, not padding extension) and looks good?

2) I'm wondering if I could install a foldable side stock? Not sure about the laws regarding shotgun lengths (30") etc..

3) Need recommendation for best ammo usage?

4) Or if you have any cool ideas on hand guards, modifications etc..just throw them my way....

Tromix, ACE, DPH make good fixed stocks that can take a bolt on recoil pad.

Try "shouldering" the stock more on your pectoral muscle, evidently you will bruise less there compared to taking recoil straight on a shoulder joint.

My Saiga runs fine on cheap bird shot and high brass runs great, you might need more lube or a little bit of internal polishing.

I use a Low Recoil 00 Buck shot from Winchester. You can really feel the difference between standard 00 and low recoil.

Looks like there was a lot of rounds fired with the buttstock way out on your arm. ...looks like rapid firing, where you couldn't keep it against your shoulder.

I do plenty more then that during a range trip on a pump and dont come out that bad. Bring it in more, and keep it tight on the shoulder. It looks like your letting it going and letting the recoil smack you.

Buddy has an SBR saiga 12, I though it was pretty light shooting to be honest.

As for the arm pic, how many rounds total that day? I have had some marks like yours but no where near as bad as being so spread out as your pic. Then again those where after shooting over 200 rounds in about 4 hours from my bolt action Sears 12gauge that is light as hell with a metal buttplate. Then again I was trying to keep up with friends using pump and semi's. I didnt do too bad of a job as I got compliments from them as to how fast I could cycle the bolt and keep shooting.
After that a few times the shoulder tends to get less bruising over time.
IE you learn real fast how to shoulder the firearm!

I did have it tight against my shoulder but from the pain I had to move around that's why my bruising is spread out, I did not rapid fire... I guess I will have to practice more so my shoulder will become a callus..

Like Wash said you need to get that stock on the inside of your shoulder. Basically you are not mounting the gun right and no matter the pad it will do that.

When I was a kid and started shotgun shooting I did the same thing and when I get lazy/tired I do the same thing by accident.

Yea, I definitely learned poor form early and did the same thing, and have been known to let it bounce out of position when I get lazy...
