help chose my 3 gun set up

Competition shooting is the same as USPSA, except you may use all 3 guns on a stage. There are two basic scoring formats, USPSA and outlaw (2 hits anywhere on paper).

The Benelli M1 is the most used shotgun in 3 gun, you just need a longer magazine tube (Nordic Components). The 24" barrel will be fine. Shooting the shotgun is about loading and managing your ammo between birdshot and slugs.

Outlaw isnt really a fixed scoring set, more of something based on the rule book of USPSA/IDPA, but tweaked to meet the clubs needs.

do you have a picture of your benelli? the barrel on the one i might get is 24 maybe i can have it cut and rethreaded

I too am planning on getting started in 3 Gun shortly. However, I would recommend leaving the barrel be. Turns out you may need it for some of the longer range clay and slug shots.
