What is a good cheap slug for practice?

Hi guys, I am getting a M590A1 12ga this Sat
but I am unfamiliar with the shotgun ammunition.

I plan to use Federal 00 Buck(against intruders) and Power-Shok Slug(against bears) for defense.

but I am looking for some cheap slug for weekly practice, since the range I usually go only accepts slug not buckshot.

any ideas?

Go to Luckygunner.com and do a search by cost per round. They have some pretty good deals sometimes. By at least a 250 round box to make the shipping worthwhile.

slugs definitely aren't cheap, but you have to consider that there is quite a bit of powder, and a pretty huge chunk of lead. Then there is the whole supply/demand thing, it's not like people go to the range to put 100 slugs on a target every weekend. Then the fancy plastic wadding, expanding designs, sabot, ballistic tips, etc.

Walmart sells Winchester 1600FPS 1 oz slugs for $3.17 per 5 round box. I bought Winchester Ranger Low Recoil slugs from Miwall for $130 for a case of 250. That Turners ad is far, from a good price.

Since I am still a college student, I rely on cheap rounds for practice and save the better one for defense.

Rio's are good shells.. I was at a sporting clays range last week and they had cases and cases of Rio's.. if it's good enough for the higher zoot shotguns, it'll be fine in your 590..
