    O/U Shotgun Question

Thinking about getting into clays and so Ive been looking at a nice o/u to take with me to the range. Ive used a friends citori O/U but its a little out of my price range so Ive been eyeing the lanber 2087.

That said, how does the barrel selection work? Ive seen pictures with a barrel selector switch so does that mean I have to manually select the barrel each time? (<< Nub)

On O/U's with a barrel selector, it just dictates which barrel fires first. The lower is the preferred one to fire first because of less muzzle jump. On guns without a selector the lower barrel fires first.

I don't have first hand experience with the Lanber, so I will not comment on that firearm. I understand they are Spanish guns? Not sure!! I've always suggested saving up for atleast a Citori, because of parts availability and durability in the long haul.

Good Luck!! Clays shooting is tons of fun!

You select which barrel will fire first and it stays that way until you change it.

Save your money and buy a good shotgun. You will have it for years to come and never regret it. Your first O/U should be sometging like Winchester 101 or Browning Citori. I would consider those to be entry level guns, that are well built. You should be able to find one for under 1k.

I've read good things about the Lanber models, mostly on European sites. They seem to get decent marks for durability, which is important on any gun that will be used seriously for clay games. Apparently finding a dealer who handles Lanber in the US is somewhat problematic.

Saving up for an entry level from one of the name makers is always a good way to go, it just takes time. And I'm still in search of the <$1K Citori.

There's a 26" Charles Daly (Miroku) Venture grade O/U in 12ga on sale in the For Sale Section; Miroku produced Charles Dalys are great guns and can be had for under 1k for the most part.

            Miroku info:

OP, I'd dteer clear of the Lanber. If you like the Citori start searching for a good used one.
Browning makes a great product and they will last forever. They are constantly for sale. Set yourself a budget and then start your search.

                O/U

Lot of great shotguns out there...Just like any weapon/gun fit is a biggie! For me, I have the Ruger line from the 28 to 12 Red Labels. They just fit and I can knock the hell out of clays and doves...

GunBroker is a great spot to find shotguns!

The single dot is to select the bottom barrel, the double dot for the top, at least on my 2087. I also own a cynergy and just sold my citori. The honest truth, the 2087 outshoots both the browning guns. Could be the chokes. The PRG where I shoot only allows steel. The browning chokes are really tight so its harder to hit at skeet. I can play a decent game of trap using the skeet choke on my cynergy, its just like shooting with a modified when you use lead. The 2087 fits well and has a wider pattern with steel. Trust me, I want the cynergy to shoot better than the lanber....but its not the arrow, its the Indian that counts!

I just did a gunbroker.com search for citori, <$1k (in the O/U section) and received 25 hits. Plenty to choose from.

That I can put my hands on before I buy? It's a personal thing, but when it comes to firearms I am not that hot on auction sites for exactly that reason.

                            Appreciate the tip though.

Most early Citori are cut in three flavors, Field, Trap and Skeet. If you know which flavor you want then seek one out to play with then you can buy online. I know some folks wanna touch before buying, if that's you then start driving!
