    Rossi Tuffy Shotgun 410

Hey guys, Me and the wife went down to big5 to go check out some ammunition they had on sell, And I all of a sudden felt the need to buy a new gun (don't you hate when that happens) I wanted to buy a .22 marlin just to save some money on the expensive .223 and 7.62x39. And I feel a strong urge to get this Rossi Tuffy Shotgun 410. I thought it was pretty cool how small it is. I don't need it I just ended up buying it, My question is how is the 410 round. I know its not a super powerful round but whats the biggest game it will stop? And I'm looking around and it seems ammos expensive for it (man i shoulda went with the .22) thanks guys

If you want to save money on ammo, the .410 is not for you. A box of 25 shells is usually $12-$15, where you can get a box of 100 12GA shells for $22.

I bought a .410 to make trap shooting more challenging. And man, is it ever. I guess if you hunt small game, the .410 is good, but beyond that, I really don't know what people would use it for.

Yea, I just bought it because (well I still don't know) probably because it was only $140 And I just wanted to buy something. So what kind of game is it good for? Im guessing just bugs bunny and other small critters. Would it take down a turkey? How about home defense? I gotta find a use for it somehow.

Go online to look for Rio ammunition. A box of 410 is around $8-$9. If you just wanna mess around with the gun then the #8 shot should be good. If you wanna get some wabbit then you'll need bigger shot, maybe a #4.

I have an old Stevens .410 that is fun to shoot. For versatility, I have chamber adapters in .32 and .22.
At 25 yards with the adapters and a red dot sight, it's fairly accurate.

One drawback in using the .22 adapter, after firing I have to use a dowel to punch out the fired cartridge.

You can use a 410 for bird hunting (dove and quail). I know some guys that do. (#9 shot) But it doesn't sound like that is a bird gun.

                The Rossi Tuffy....

They're fairly handy little guns and are marketed, largely, to survival and trekking the great outdoors. It's got enough pop with the right shells to take small to medium sized game for the camp pot, and you can defend yourself with it if there is nothing else handy.

I wouldn't use one for anything beyond subsistence hunting, and it's definitely not a good choice for formal clay games.

Walmart has some decent prices on .410 shot shells, might want to check them out.

Did they just re-brand the old Snake-charmer or is there more to it?

Same concept of the Snake Charmer; small kick-about gun to take pot meat.

It's not a door breeching device, it's a .410 shotgun that is so small and light you have no excuse not to stash one somewhere useful. I adore them!

I don't understand the complaint about them being more expensive than other gauges. Sure the price per round is higher, but it takes all day to go through a few boxes of shells with a single shot

I keep my .410 loaded with the Federal 000 plated buck at home and some 3" #6 shot when out in the field.

I've been thinking about getting one of these but they look like a kids gun. 410's are fun for blowing up rattlers and lizards.

the double-ought buck loads are devastating at close range. Slugs from a .410 are not easy to reason with and usually just go ahead and poke holes in stuff, even big stuff.
