I personally do not know how to check. Since DOJ only maintains handgun records, I am not sure if there is a central database for stolen long guns. If it were stolen, the only record could be at the PD that took the stolen gun report. Since this gun is over 100 years old, that could be anywhere.
I would call my local PD during the weekday and ask for the 'Community Relations Officer' (CRO). Tell him you are buying a vintage shotgun and would like to verify it is not stolen. Hopefully, he can tell you the steps.
I like the CRO because they are usually more user friendly and are not looking to blow you off. These are the guys that the PD wants to look and play nice.

Is there a serial number on the gun? W/O a serial# it would be impossible to check or trace a gun.

I got offered a screaming deal on a 1903 parkerbrother side by side in 20g.

Anyone know how I can find out if this gun is stolen? If this deal is good it's to good to be true so I wanna cross my T's and dot my i's before I say yes.....

in almost flawless condition besides a few little things. It looks as almost like its never been shot before... I am pretty excited about it... I called the DoJ and they told me no one can run the numbers for me to find out if it is stolen... Thats not public info and illegal for me to get since I am not an LEO.
