help fit and work on a Rottweil!

    Hey Calgunners!

So my girlfriend and I have taken a more serious step with trap shooting. I came across a deal for both a Rottweil and a Browning XS trap Gold, so I picked them both up for us, she is going to shoot the Browning, I'm going to shoot the Rottweil Super Trap combo. I realize that I'm taking a risk with the Rottweil, but its such a beautiful gun, feels great in my hands, and has a VERY low round count through it, so I gave it a shot.

So, I wanted to find someone locally in the bay area that can help me adjust and/or fit them to us. I also was hoping to find someone that can recommend a gunsmith that is familiar with the Rottweils and can get the springs and such for this thing. If you have any info, I'd greatly appreciate your help!!! Thanks again, happy shooting!

I know there some decent guys at the livermore rande, that are decent at setting up guns. Sam has done alot to help my ex when she first started. Any of the local clubs will know someone who does it for a living. Just hit the range, and start asking around. It will suprise you what a good bunch of people trapshooters are. For the most part anyway. Livermore also runs a thursday night leauge, that is great for practice, and meeting good people who are usually more than willing to help.

Also if he doesn't chime in, contact bjl333. He does skeet clinics in La, but comes up here once in a while, and I am sure he knows someone, who knows someone in the local area.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll shoot him a PM. I've been shooting at the Livermore range on Tuesday nights but started class, so I dont get out on Tuesdays until 8. We have time on the weekends, so I think we'll just have to fight the crowds. I'll ask around next time I'm out there and see what I can figure out also. Thanks for the help!

There are a lot of people around that say they can fit a stock, it isn't always true. I've seen a few stocks ruined by local "fitters" who thought they knew what they were doing. If you're just starting in trap, you probably want to get the stock to fit you "pretty well". As you gain experience your style will change, so you'll need to get the gun fitted again.

BTW, I had a few friends who hat Rottweils when they first started importing them and they are beautiful guns, especially the trigger group.

Not saying that Ken Genecco is the "best" ...just that there are none better, anywhere, for shotguns, rifles or pistol work.

He is in Stockton and can be reached at 209.986.9192

You got yourself a nice gun and he can handle both your "metal" & "wood" issues.

PM me if you have any questions.

              Powg is out.
