    Shotgun terminology question

Below is a pic (bad cell phone pic) of the fore end of my Model 50 inherited from my Grandfather.

First question: Whats the vented end called?

It appears to be removable, but I haven't tried. The choke pieces screw on to the end. I'm guessing a "vented choke"?

Second question: Is it legal for hunting?

The part on the end is the "choke".. usually they were screw on chokes.. they ranged from Cylinder (wide open) to full (fully constricted). This was an early method of removable chokes.. Also, not to be used with steel shot..

But otherwise, yes, it is legal for hunting..

Those were very popular with Trap and Skeet competitors back in the days. A few Cutts equipped shotguns still make the circuit, but those are getting very very rare.
