    happy birthday, heres a mossberg

I've been looking into getting a 590a1 for a while now. and with my birthday coming up soon, I finally have the opportunity to get one. My question is "can I get one with all the cool bells and whistles on it?" (Bayonet, ghost ring, heat shield, pistol grip, etc) I'm looking at the 9 shot, and its gonna be used for HD, and the occasional obliteration of paper targets and what not (also zombies). I've seen some cheaper shotguns with collapsable stocks and pistol grips and I wonder if a 590a1 with those would be legal here. Forgive the newbie question, I'm learning more and more from calguns as the days go on and I would appreciate any advice, thanks.

I really like the 590A1, very tight and solid.

I keep my 590A1 quite simple, just a Hogue 12" LOP buttstock.

Yet if you would like to add more bells & whistles to yours, sure why not? It is part of the fun to customize our pump-action shotguns.

    Regards,

All a bayonet will do - Is cause holes in your ceiling when a friend picks it up.

Get the basic setup and spend the rest on tactical training / ammo.....

just about anything is legal on a pump shotgun (within reason, the nuclear option is still unavailable.. even for pumps). So yes everything you asked about is legal

Well I just special ordered the a1 tactical 9 shot with adjustable stock and pistol grip. Nice little place called Pete's Sport Shop in Madera, their gun guy was pretty cool. I wanted the model with the bayonet but ill live without it. If the defecation hits the oscillation I can always duct tape a steak knife to my shotgun (kidding of course). Now the 10 day wait..

              Congrats and Happy B-day!
I have an early 590 with heat shield, bayo lug, but it has a bead sight.
I really enjoy it, its fun to shoot clays from the hip.
If you can modify or get one with a bayo lug, you need a M-16(AR-15)
bayo. I have a couple, its like in the movies when the recruits charge the hanging sandbags with there Garands baonets affixed.
              Its a cool factor.
              Happy Shooting!

Happy birthday. Nice choice, very cool shotgun.

I got a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12GA Combo Set one Christmas from my father. I spoiled him back, but can't remember with what. Nicest thing I ever did for him was get him a day in an F-16 simulator (he's a private pilot). The incentive flight fell apart. Been a long time since we had Christmas' like that. Darn economy.

Happy Bday! Honestly I am a woman, and this thing is HEAVY lol. But its awesome to use. I got custom youth sized stock, sling...

Honestly bells and whistles are kinda defeative. Its like buying a Corvette ZR1 or a 911 GT3RS, nice, amazing cool. But most will never know how to fully use those cars, or push them to their limits and experience real automotive bliss...

For some a stock ss, or gt, cam or stang are fine. Or a z or g from nissan. yada yada.

Same applies here. Honestly I don't even actually use either of my a1s that much, like I said, size is an issue. I am more comfy with shorter albet less round count toys...sling, equip to carry more rounds, cleaning items, training are whats really worth investing in. I run a light on some of mine too.

Magpul Shotgun dvd is fun to watch, get it. Than go take classes, look up former MP Dynamics guy, Travis, he has his own shindig now, very knowledgeable, very nice and good guy.

I am barely over 5 feet tall, weigh under 100 pounds WITH fake boobs, so I don't have alot of size to put against and into heavier items, or harder hitting.

But regardless, get what makes you happy, become compet. in its use, safe. And go shooting, have fun!

For the fun of it, buy something simple, than add goodies to it. Its funner that way.

Excellent choice in shotgun. All you really need is a good light mount with flashlight and good side saddle to make it a complete workhorse of a shotgun.
Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...

Thank you all for the birthday goodness, and I am definately happy to have an a1. I agree that I don't need all the bells and whistles. But I'm sure if I had a zr1 id count the days until I can take it out to the track and let her loose. Same goes for my soon to be a1, just can't wait
