    Has anyone shot one? Opinions?

I have shot a Maxus but not a whole lot. I do have a Winchester SX3 that I've put about 2000 rounds through so far, from heavy duck loads to 1oz game loads and I've never had a single malfunction or problem with it. It cycles quickly and smoothly, shoots comfortably, and has been easy to take care of.

Now, I know you didn't ask about the SX3, but the SX3 and Maxus are made in the same plant, and many of the key parts are identical (to include the gas system and bolt). Take that for what it's worth (maybe not much, but it's an extra opinion).

I wouldn't bother with the 3.5" chamber though, the extra money, weight, and slightly different tuned gas system aren't necessary unless you do a lot of goose hunting. I do have the 3.5" (got a deal on it) and it's never failed to cycle lighter loads, but it's just better to go with the 3" if you don't need the 3.5".

Shot about a box through a Maxus. The gun did not fit me very well. I wasn't too big of a fan of how it shot or of the aesthetics. I got to shoot it side by side with a Beretta !400 and that thing is SWEET! I own a few Brownings but this one just didn't feel right to me.

+1 on what slick says, the SX3 and the Maxus are almost one in the same, and I've shot both, the Maxus is awesome! Although I have to admit, I ended up with 2 SX3's

I just got the Maxus and have shot two rounds of skeet with it. So far, I'm loving it. I previously had a Mossy 930, but that did not fit me well. Before my purchase I was deciding between the Maxus and SX3. Both pretty much the same gun, but the Maxus fit me better than the SX3.

I own a Browning Maxus. They are great shotguns. They come with shims that you can use to fit the gun to you. Very reliable and pretty lightweight too.

I also own a Beretta extrema which I actually like better.

I have a maxus as well and love it. super light weight even in a 3 1/2 inch chamber it has a good trigger right out of the box and shims for cast left right or no cast and length of pull. Fits me grate and is very well balanced. Ive shoot many super x3s and the feel is very similar but i do like some of the features the maxus hast the the winchester doesn't ( speed feed and mag cut off) both are grate guns

Dad has a Maxus, and he had two of the earlier golds.. the fact that they put the speed load function in was likely a good thing.. I've fired my three at incoming ducks and was fast enough to load and get a 4th shot off to take one more bird in the past.. the thing I dislike about the maxus is the inability to put an extended mag tube on it.. so for that reason, I will stick to my Gold... Dad however is quite happy with his Maxus..
