    1915 winchester model 12 16g

I have this old shotgun, it has been re blued and looks pretty good. I do not know who or when it was done. Based upon the age it has a 2 9/16 chamber, I know I can have it bored out to 2 3/4, but is this worth anything. Since it has been re blued its no longer original. Should I have it bored or leave it alone as a wall hanger ?

If it has been reblued already then go ahead and rechamber it for 2 3/4" shells. A Model 12 is a very fun gun to shoot and you should enjoy playing with it!!

+1... assuming it's otherwise safe to shoot, having it rechambered would be the way to go. Any collector value would be toasted by a re-finish.

16 gauge is a treat to shoot, and vintage Model 12's are often smoother than 20 year old scotch. Put together, it should be a helluva lot of fun. And I can just about guarantee you'll have guys drooling over it every time you uncase it at your local clays facility.

FWIW... in the interest of full disclosure, plan to get into reloading (if you don't already) to maximize your budget with a 16. The gauge is considered somewhat obsolete in this country and sometimes shells can get expensive.

If you're in SoCal then www.phillipswholesale.net has 16ga shells by the case. I don't remember how much they were, but I wanna say around $75 for the case.
