So I went looking for a Wingmaster..

and the guy at Turner's looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language.

Edit: I'm looking for a semi-auto, sorry for the confusion. Nevertheless, the gun store guy made it sound like he'd never heard of a Wingmaster 870, which does in fact exist.

Do they not make a Wingmaster 870 anymore?

Is Remington 870 Express all they make now?

As for the 870 (express, I guess) they said there are gas seals that need to be changed every so often, whereas the Benelli has a piston, and nothing needs to be changed. Is this true?

As an aside, they didn't know what a Browning Gold model was either.

These are recommendation I've gotten from Calguns. What other Semi-autos do you recomment?

I think you're referring to an 1100 or 1187 and not an 870. The 870 is a pump action and the 1100/1187s are gas guns.

They still make the 1100s. Go to www.remington.com as you can see the models they offer.

    BTW 1100 = gtg!!

Mmmmmm......you were talking to the wrong guy. Maybe someone else in the store would have been better suited to help you.

LOL, What can I say, you gotta ask for it by name, right?

Yea, but he started referring to gas seals on the wingmaster, and pistons on a benelli and he closed with recommandation for semis! So maybe I got confused by his post!

EDIT: So does the OP want a pump or a semi?!?!?

                      Correct.

Right now the salesman is probably posting on another gun forum about the customer that came in today demanding an 870 Wingmaster semi-auto.

So true, lol. Though I wasn't demanding. Just listened about the Beretta A400 he was trying to sell me. Looks like a sweet SG, though pricey!

If you asked for a '870 Wingmaster' he should have known what you were talking about. Sounds like you don't want a 870 though. Like what others have said a 1100 and 1187 are Remington's semi-autos.

What are you looking to use the gun for? Hunting, trap, skeet, sporting clay? What's your price range?

The Browning Gold Cup is a nice shotgun. The Winchester SXP is similarly nice. FN, Browning and Winchester are built on the same Browning action. The Beretta A400 is also a nice gun. Similarly the Benelli M2 Field's. Those are the 3 B's. Browning, Beretta and Benelli. Can't really go wrong with any.
