    Maverick Over/Under Hunter Edition

I recently purchased the Maverick Over/Under Hunter from Big 5. I have to say I am very impressed w/ this gun. In high school I would compete in trap with my grandfathers Browning Citori. Now, I''m not saying the quality of the Maverick is the same as the Citori, but I did shoot the same amount of clays first time out. My first where 5 for 5. First round was 23 for 25. For a "cheap" firearm I am very impressed. I did a full 4 rounds plus some extra birds on my first time out and I did not experience any problems with the shotgun. It comes with a Modified and Improved Cylinder choke. For the price I paid and the amount of fun I have already had with the Maverick I have to say I am very impressed. I'm going back out on Saturday to shoot some more and I can't wait to bust some clays with it.

Picture from the first time out:

Wow, could you mount a light on it for shooting trap at night?

BJL: Thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking for awhile, felt it was time to get my feet wet. I would love to take one of your courses later. Hopefully when you start them up again in the new year.

Grendel: Yep its Prado, I may be there sunday as well. I forgot how much I love trap shooting.

Bigdog: Thanks for the welcome. So much fun to shoot.

Riodog: This one doesn't have a rail but they do make a defender Over/Under w/ rails for lights. Sounds like fun though.

I run my clinic through winter. There will be some cancellations due to weather but I try to run 'em year 'round!

I am definitely a shotgun noobe and went out with a friend today to try Trap. Really enjoyed it. On the way back stopped at Big 5 to see what shotguns go for and happened to see a Maverick O/U that really seemed to fit. It was tagged at $449. Anyway, my friend said he had seen it on sale a while back for a little over $300. I told the salesman that I'd wait till it went on sale again, that at a little over $300 I'd just do it. He said "I'll tell you what" and now I have it in jail for 10 days. Figure I can't go to wrong for $329+ for an o/u. I know its sort of late to ask, but what do you guys think of this shotgun?
