    First time shooting since 1991

Hi folks, I just purchased my first shotgun (Mossberg 500) and I'm wondering what kind of ammo should I use for target practice.
This will be the first time firing a weapon since I was in the Marine Corps back in 1991. I figured I would start off slow with some lite ammo until I get use to the gun (first 25 rounds) then build up from there.
    Any suggestions?

I am assuming this is a 12ga shotgun??

If so the 100rd value packs of #7.5 or #8 from walmart are good loads for your needs

$23ish plus tax per 100 shells

Welcome to Calguns !!! What barrel length did you get? What type of targets are you gonna be shooting at? ^^ The Walmart 4-pacs are pretty good.

        Thanks for the welcome,
It's a 12 gauge and I'll more than likely be shooting at paper targets.
I picked up the combo at Big Five (yes I've read the stories) and it comes with a 28" and 18.5" barrel, I'll be using the 18.5 for the most part.

Start off with bird shots, then use some buckshots... you should be fine. Mossberg 500's are fun shotguns.

Get a hand thrower and shoot some targets. Just remember shooting a shotgun is very different from a rifle. You don't ever aim a shotgun unless shooting slugs (thats a whole different story) The eyes are always on the target and not aiming down the barrel!! If you wanna learn to shoot some skeet in the future just hit me up.
The walmart 4 packs should be a good start.
