    Legality of flashlight and bayonet attachment

    Hey guys, I just bought me a nice Mossberg 590 and it came with a bayonet lug. I haven't owned shotguns in years, but remember someone telling me ages ago that in California I can't attach either a flashlight or a bayonet to a shotgun. Is that true?

          But, if you attach too much stuff on your shotgun, people might call you a "mall ninja".

              Bayonets are great on "camp" guns. How else are you going to roast marshmellows? Or, you can mount one to make a gun "historically correct." Other than that, there's no reason to put one on.

                                  Mmmm.. well if you're thinking the Surefire forend flashlight, you'll need to have the bayo lug cut off strictly for mechanical reasons (clearance). But there's no legal reason not to have either.

                                      Exactly. The person telling you that you couldn't attach both was probably referring to Surefire foreends, in which case he was right. There's no legal aspect to this though.
