    Over under shotgun triggers

I was thinking about getting an over shotguns and was wondering how triggers work on these shotguns.

I've seen some with single triggers and some with double triggers. Can anyone school me.

The double triggers will fire one barrel per trigger. You'll see more double triggers on SXS, usually O/Us will have single selective triggers. Meaning you could select which barrel, the upper or the lower, you want to fire first. SXS shotguns can also come with single selective triggers.

Be advise not all single triggers are selective. In which case the under barrel will fire first for O/U and right barrel first for SXS.

To add just a small note to the above:

Most older shotguns have a double trigger, where most newer ones have the single trigger.

The mechanism inside is able to reset the trigger for the follow-up shot. Some are mechanical and some are inertia driven. IMO, the mechanical seems to be slightly more reliable, especially if you shoot a tubed shotgun for 410, but either one will serve you well.
