    Wingmaster 870 – 30" Barrel Won't Fit

    Found a 30" barrel laying around for my Wingmaster though it doesn't seem to fit. Here's a comparison of it to my standard 28" barrel. The part that goes in the receiver is a lot longer than the standard barrel.

    They are both 2 3/4" chambers and no different markings than that.

    Any insight here as I'm not too familiar with shotgun accessories.

    I don't think those are both 870 barrels. The one with the longer section that goes into the receiver looks like a Remington 1100 barrel. I'm fairly sure that's what you got!

      Ohhh, good call! I believe you're right. A quick search turned up the 1187 Model which has the much longer receiver insert. Thanks!

        I think it is a Model 1100 barrel, not an 11-87.

          Per the Remington site this is an 1100:

          And this is an 11-87 which looks exactly like the top one in my picture I'm referring to (sans the rail of course)

            Don't know where on the Remington site you found that picture but that is an 870 barrel not an 1100 barrel. Can't you tell an 870 barrel with a simple barrel ring from a barrel for a semi auto that has a Large gas collar? Look at the barrel roots and the difference in length. See the knotch in the end of the 870 barrel root, that goes over the ejector. Notice there is not a knotch on the semi-auto barrel. Not picking on you but dang it man the differences are very obvious and you don't have to be a trained Remington Armorer to tell. Makes me think this thread is very poor joke and you are yanking on our legs.

            Also, you can't tell an 1100 barrel from an 11-87 by looking at a picture people but you can dang sure tell an 870 barrel from a semi auto barrel.

              Here you go: http://www.remington.com/product-fam...y-barrels.aspx

              As I said I'm unfamiliar with shotguns and I can clearly see the difference as I've stated. Sorry I don't know what the difference means, if I did I'd obviously not have started this thread, so chill out. Another Calguns elitist strikes down on their own. This place is getting worse and worse.

                1100 barrels do not have a place to install the Gas Cylinder Spring, no forward ports.

                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                Aermotor ~ That pic is wrong on the Remington website. That is an 870 barrel that they show as 1100.
                  Yep, I went to the link and it is as you posted it, but of course it is an error. Several guys pointed out that it was not an 870 barrel but an 1100 and you in return posted the picture with no comment or explination in a way I took as saying those guys were wrong. They were not wrong, it is the Remington web site that is wrong not the guys that posted in to answer your question. I took your posting of the picture with no explination in a very negative way against the guys that answered your question correctly.
                  So, I was supporting the guys that answered your question and not striking down anyone. If that is a problem then let me know and I will not respond to any of your postings.
                  Yep, your right Swifty I simply looked at it over all as the size of the gas collar and lenth of the barrel root took my eye then read the posts. Didn't even look at the second picture till you mentioned that.
                    Uhh ok, take it how you will, I simply posted what I had found on Remington's site. How am I to know if it's wrong or not? And only ONE person posted before I put the pics up, so it's not multiple people you're defending. I don't see how you're defending anyone or how you can take something as being very negative when I simply posted the pics off of their site and described what I am seeing in the pics. Then you take it to a whole new level of insulting when I OBVIOUSLY don't know what a flipping semi auto barrel is or this thread wouldn't exist.
                    For f*@ks sake man.
                      Well you Know now thanks to Optic's and Swifty. I can see how the error on the web site misled you and posting that with and explination or asking if this was an error would have allowed them to assure you it was an error. Putting "Per the Remington Web site" and simply posting the picture caused me to think you were telling them they were wrong. And of course we know they were right and both told you it was an 1100 barrel. And yes, two people responded correctly to your post before you posted the picture. So if that is not what you were doing then I apologize.
                        Sorry for any confusion, I was absolutely not saying they were wrong, I was again confused. I know you're a shotgun dealer and probably know it all, but the rest of us don't.
                          Guys, don't fight!! The Remi website has the same picture for an 1100, 870 AND SP10! So for a new guy that could be confusing. The OP could've been more observant, but through no fault of his it was an honest mistake.
