if price isnt an issue, i believe turners has a sale until tomorrow on a benelli supernova tactical. that would fit pretty much all the criteria you put forth. thing about benelli is i dont think you can change the stock or the barrel so it's completely single purpose built. but it IS a benelli and it's awful pretty.
The only downside of the Supernova is lack of aftermarket accessories, and as I'll explain in a moment, it's not much of a downside.

You can change out the stock. Once in a blue moon a factory stock will appear on gun broker, but those prices are grossly inflated. Mesa Tactical makes the Urbino pistol-grip tactical stock which reduces the lop to 12". I personally have an Urbino on my Supernova with the limbsaver pad. Nice piece of kit. You can also get side saddles from mesa and rail kits. Nordic makes a rock solid +2 extension too.

I don't know about the Nova (Which is a different shotgun, and I hear it's much less modular than the Supernova), but if you're willing to drop the cash, you *can* exchange the barrels on the Supernova. The barrels themselves are pretty pricey though.

go out and shoot a few, you might not like the recoil or how they shoot.

Thanks for the offer, but I purchased the 887 Nitro Mag already.

Find a used Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Personally, I stay away from pistol grip stocks and go with Hogue 12 inch LOP.

I agree. The 870 would be my first choice, the 500 the second. The Hogue 12 LOP stock is an excellent choice of HD and tactical use. I loved it on my shotgun. Sadly, I just sold it off last week. It would have met your needs perfectly.

sorry to thread jack, but i figured its better than starting a new thread. i went trap shooting for the first time on saturday in livermore and had the time of my life. i had to 2 new handguns and my best friend had his new mossberg 500 to try out. i was very impressed with his gun. his is the combo that comes with an 18.5" barrel and a 26"(i believe). we obviously used the longer barrel while we were there. he also had the blackhawk spring loaded stock thats advertised to cut recoil and half, and i must say it really did. i was amazed. also has the pistol grip. he also has a side saddle and strap. i was pretty damn impressed with his purchase and am thinking of my buying one of my own in the same setup. i like the combo idea because it has a HD barrel and a sporting barrel. can u guys think of any other setup id be happy with?

my buddy told me he really wanted a reminton 870 but it was way more money apparently. he bought his gun at the gun exchange in SJ and spent about 700 on everything, which i thought was kind of steep for a pump. but id be willing to pay that amount, just because i know how much fun it was to shoot. however im going to shop around for price and if u guys have any other recommendations i will look into those as well.

The Benelli Nova is an option, but they are not making many aftermarket anythings for it. The Mossberg or Remington have been around forever so parts, accessories and GUNSMITHS that can work on them are everywhere.
