I do believe it is specifically listed so therefore is an AW and illegal.
      Sorry.

      Quoted from http://info.sen.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displ...le=12275-12278

      (c) All of the following specified shotguns:
      (1) Franchi SPAS 12 and LAW 12.
      (2) Striker 12.
      (3) The Streetsweeper type S/S Inc. SS/12.

you can get a luigi shotgun, it was a pump only version of the spas 12. the rear grip folder and heat shield fit the luigi. It is pretty rare though I have only seen one for sale. I think it was $475-$600.

Even if it was CA legal, there are safety issues with the original lever safety making the shotgun AD. This can be remedied by replacing the defective part with a factory cross-bolt safety, but since the shotgun has been long discontinued; replacement parts are super hard to find.

He has had it forever and isn't even sure it works. I just thought it would be an awesome shotgun to have. And it was going to free (minus DROS) so how could I say no

Luigi is the same company. Its Luigi Franchi that makes the SPAS 12.

Dude, take it anyway but have him keep it at his place out of state. Actually I don't think that's doable, but you CAN get a storage space in Nevada specifically for CA gun owners (don't remember the name) and keep it there.
