Oh, and I swapped my factory ghost rings for some tritium ghost rings... Muuuuch better.

I use #7 shot in that Federal loading. Like I said 3 3/4 dram and your good to go!

The mods I described are not really mods except the welded lifter which is not necessary. They only take about 10 minutes to do at most, more like returning to factory spec...
These are great low maintenance guns with very few simple parts. Much lower maintenance than a gas gun. The Italian engineers never intended these to have alot of weight put on them. Every design has its good and bad points. The free carrier has actually been more of a frustration for me as I have occasionally knocked it out of battery and had a FTF or unloaded it when I didnt intend to ...
All in all still my favorite for most shotgun tasks!

Speaking of the M1, does anybody know where I can get a new factory pistol grip stock from?

This shotgun is weight sensitive for the inertia operated action. Marines went with gas operation so they put all the gear on it.

This gun more than any other I have shot requires a break in. Use heavy loads for the break in. New or low round count guns will not cycle light loads. My early 90's m1 would do the same thing out of the box. One shot then I had to manually cycle the action. after shooting a couple hundred rounds I tried low powered birdshot field loads and have not had a single problem for operation.

Break in was all I needed to make the gun work with all loads I have shot out of it since. I have gone on to shoot thousands of light field loads from wally world, the winchester and rem, without any failures. I shot it so much the rear ghost ring has fallen off and screwed on twice. The last time I just left the rear sight off as I really only need the front sight anyways.

Love this shotgun, arguably my all time favorite scattergun. Over the M4,M3, saigas, and the spas. If you do not want to break in/pare the weight down to make this gun run, pm me and I would be happy to take it off your hands.

Could you possibly show me a picture of the barrel extractor cut.. Not exactly sure about the location..??? Thanx...!!
