The O/U pictured is the "tactical" model with 18.5" barrels, not a 28" model. Note the rails....

Be sure to file a range report once you get these out in the wild, looking for a cheap O/U as well.

Finally got to use the gun, and it went very well. Went through ~100 shells and a couple boxes of clay's. As expected it's no crown jewel but it's a respectable gun. My friends also liked the gun quite a bit too, one of which plans to purchase it next time it's on sale.

The fit and finish is so so, the inside of the mono-block isn't polished, or fully parked, it doesn't have any cool auto ejection like you see on Browning's.

The function worked as designed. Every time the trigger was pulled it went pop and most importantly I was able to hit clay's pretty reliably.

So far I'm very happy with the Maverick O/U. I would rate this as a buy. Of course if it breaks at less than 1000 round like some reports on the internet say then I'm sure I'll change my tone, but until then I'm optimistic.

The only sore spot of the day is my friend had just bought a Benelli Super Vinci and now I have determined I must have one too and it will likely be my next purchase.

Since it is up for sale again are there any other updates on this shotgun?

A friend of mine at the range bought the maverick. As you say the finish is rough and it is not much to look at . I fired it a couple of times and the first thing I noticed is that it kicks hard. The butt stock and forstock are plastic and all of the weight is out by the muzzle. The buttstock is hollow and the meager butt pad is attached with a screw through the side not in the end as I said it is hollow. The gun has fired every time so far and busted a bunch of clay. I think plans are in the works to place a weight in the buttstock and install a limbsaver.
