    Saiga-12 Conversion shops?

    Greetings all!

So, in about ten days or so I'll be looking for a place to get my new Saiga-12 modified with, at the very least, a pistol grip.

Does anyone know if there are any shops in SoCal that do this kind of work? I've found a variety of places where I could order parts, but I need some place to do the work, too.

Also, does anyone know of a resource that describes what all the parts and modifications out there actually are and/or what they do? One website lists a page of modifications they can perform, but if you don't already know what they are, it's not very helpful, and while they said they could answer questions about them, they haven't responded since I asked what each procedure was and why one might want it.

Finally, are the various bullet-buttons out there easily removable when visiting shooting ranges in the United States, or in case of zombie apocalypse/invasion by the Andorran Legions/etc.? I would imagine so, but some of the ones I've seen pics of seem to look far more complicated than others...

    Thanks!

saiga-12 forum has all the resources you will need. seriously though, just do the conversion yourself. it is NOT that difficult and it's a great way to learn about your new toy.

I don't have any of the facilities or tools necessary for the work, so unless someone's throwing a build party in which all the equipment needed is provided, I have to find someone to do it for me..

What do you want done to it? I just did mine today without a needle nosed pliers and a retaining plate. I've never done anything like this before. It was easy, two hours from start to finish and that's including paint.
I'm still waiting for some more parts so I can take a trip to Valkyrie to get the barrel chopped and the holes welded.
If you just want the basic bolt on PG conversion you should be able to do it and save some bucks.

        YOU CAN DO IT!

This is what I used earlier.

Until I gave up and bought a dremel.

Well, the jury's still out on that...

In any event, the barrel is 19" long, yet you're going to cut it down? Isn't 18" the minimum? Does cutting off a single inch make any real difference? Just curious...

Also, what holes will you have welded? The videos I've watched show that there are a few holes left over from the old parts that are filled with plugs, are those the ones?

I need a "Saiga 12 For Dummies" book... this will actually be my first Comblock weapon... and I'm dating myself with that statement, I know!

They also have 22" and 24" models, however some people like to cut down the 19" to 18 inches, or even shorter and then attach a permanently attached muzzle break to bring the overal barrel length to 18". My 19 inch model is about 20 1/2 with the muzzle break attached, but I dont want a permanently attached muzzle break incase I want to switch it out with the polychoke and back and forth. And yes those are the holes that people like to have welded instead of just the plugs, it doesnt add any additional function to the gun but it does give it a nice finished look.

I do have a 19" barrel but my muzzle brake I put on there is 3.5".
I can live with the holes for now but eventually I'm going to get them welded most likely after a few range trips. The holes on it right now have screws since I used the ace skeleton stock.

Here is a link where you'll find the common and the UNIQUE conversions.

Yes, they do have a purpose on some Saigas. They're drain holes especially in the 545s when using corrosive ammo.

You can do it all with the tapco intrafuse pistol grip and not modify anything on your saiga. All you need to do is fix the stock so it will not adjust. A screw in the right place should fix that. A screw driver is all you might need. Good luck

As others have said, its not difficult to do yourself. Youtube has plenty of videos on the subject.

Put it this way...A really nice dremel with accessories will run you 125-150 (thats top of the line too). You will pay 150-200 for a smith to convert it for you. Which seems like the better option to you?
