Unless RRoos is overturned the SPAS will remain illegal here in Cali.

I own one and trust me, its cool and all, but it has a hard time keeping up with my M1S90.

i would imagine the reason they are banned by name is because they were available during a time when clinton had the authority to ban exotic firearms. early to mid 90s were not a good time for assault weapons in this country.

although it is true that the spas 12 with a collapsible stock and pistol grip has enough evil features on it to be banned by configuration as well as name.

      the reason for that?

some people are stupid and want to scapegoat guns for the violent actions that some people do with them. but it never occurred to these people to ban cars because of the felonies that were committed with them.

One of the letters currently sitting on the desk of the BATFE tech branch right now may give us a path to CA legal SPAS 12's...

then just get a Benelli M3 and you can have the convertable auto / pump shotgun.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

The Franchi SPAS-12 being banned had nothing to do with the Clinton Administration.
The Franchi SPAS-12 was make/model banned in CA in 1989. [PC 12276(c)(1)]

                          Interesting side note:
Almost every firearm used in the movie "Terminator" was make/model banned in the Roberti-Roos Assault Weapons Ban of 1989.

During the mid-1990s, Franchi discontinued the SPAS-12. This had nothing to do with USA gun laws.
                          Beretta owns Franchi and Benelli.
When Benelli developed the M-3 Super 90, Beretta made the decision to discontinue the Franchi SPAS-12.
The reason was because they were both semi-auto/pump combo shotguns designed for the Mil/LE market and the Benelli was the superior version. Also at the time, only Beretta (Franchi/Benelli) was marketing semi-auto/pump combo shotguns, so Beretta also wanted to stop competing aganist its self.
Under Beretta's vision, Franchi no longer makes shotguns for the Mil/LE market.
