The SPAS 12 looks cool and is a must have for movie aficionados.
    For every one else, yuck!
It's heavy, some parts are prone to breakage, its not very reliable and there was a recall on the first version because some guns would fire when you took it off safe.
Its a great conversation piece but if you want a shooter, get a Benelli.
    With Oden on our side.

as said already...they look awesome but they are soooooo freaking heavy, the pump action itself is tough to manipulate and it requires full power loads to cycle the semi auto i.e. no shooting cheap bird shot for fun.

            Interesting side note:
Almost every firearm used in the movie "Terminator" was make/model banned in the Roberti-Roos Assault Weapons Ban of 1989.

During the mid-1990s, Franchi discontinued the SPAS-12. This had nothing to do with USA gun laws.
            Beretta owns Franchi and Benelli.
When Benelli developed the M-3 Super 90, Beretta made the decision to discontinue the Franchi SPAS-12.
The reason was because they were both semi-auto/pump combo shotguns designed for the Mil/LE market and the Benelli was the superior version. Also at the time, only Beretta (Franchi/Benelli) was marketing semi-auto/pump combo shotguns, so Beretta also wanted to stop competing aganist its self.
Under Beretta's vision, Franchi no longer makes shotguns for the Mil/LE market.
yea, you're right. i really should brush up on my history of ridiculous gun laws.

saiga 12s are some of the most exotic shotguns youl ever see. i bought one right before the ATF released the news about their study on sporting configuration.

the thing is a beast, especially with 10 round agp mags in it

Well the Spas is cool, yet if you are going to go for it, go big... Figure out a way to get a Striker 12 into the state... For those that have them preban I envy otherwise those are the dream gun for me.

spas-12 could probably come in through a renaming, or a newly made receiver to make it off-list. but a striker-12 is always gonna be a revolving cylinder shotgun, and that is a feature ban.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

While I admit the SPAS looks sweet just get a Benelli. They are much cheaper and better overall. Also the SPAS is out of production so you'd have to hunt around for a used one.

striker 12 would be cool too, but those are not only banned by name, but also by the mechanics of the design itself.

i think at this point, il just be happy with my saiga 12. but i do intend to eventually get a coach style 12 gauge as well. i really like those

I've been wanting one for a while for only 2 reasons:

                              1) The stock is cool
                              2) I can't get one

I liked mine so much that I bought two of them. It's like the DEagle of shotguns. It's weight makes it very mild in the recoil department.

I sold the solid stock version when their prices skyrocketed.
